April 2014 - Happy Easter!

I was looking at the blogs and thought CRAP, it had been a month since I have updated Vern's blog. There has not been a lot going on. I have been working, working, working so have not done any blogging, even reading blogs.

Vern is really starting to get into puberty. His attitude is typical teenager - BAD. Mouthy, not listening, and all he does is mess with his iPod, XBOX, or computer.

He is doing OK at school - Had one detention this past month.

Today was Easter. He looked so handsome all dressed up. We had to make a quick trip to get dress shoes as he didn't have any that fit. The weather was beautiful so we spent the rest of the day outside.

Vern and his sister helped me with leaves and they picked up stick and pine cones. Then they drove the garden tractor over to a giant burn pile with all the stuff we picked up.

It was a good day and our evening meal Vern loved. We had ham, potatoes, green beans and fruit salad! Vern has bowlfuls of fruit salad the way I make it.

They worked really hard and even got a bit sun burnt. Tonight we are getting a bit of rain. April showers.

Happy Easter to all. May God Bless you all.

Geeze, only in 1 week?

Wow, how many more things can we pack in a span of a week? Yes it has all ready been a week since I posted. It seems in that span of a week there have been many things that have gone on.

Let's see first, I was out of town for most of that week. That makes time FLY by and when I get back a lot of catching up must occur. Everyone got along well without me but I could tell it was time for DA MOM to be home to keep the peace.

Next, while I was out of town, Vern had a spring concert. Superman taped it for me so I was able to see Vern in all his glory. Unfortunately we only got one blurry picture (below):

Next we toss in Easter. We had church and then a nice family dinner that evening.

All 3 of those kids complained that they didn't get more candy and have Easter eggs to find that morning. You would have thought the world was coming to an end! They each got an Easter bunny and $$$.

Follow this with a family day at the zoo.

(Yes I am as tired as I look.)
And finally a good photo of Vern outside on the deck, enjoying a nice day.

This adds up to one busy week!

First Communion

Happy Easter to all!  May God's Blessings be given to you.

It was an absolutely beautiful spring day this Easter. It was also the day Vern received his first communion.  Vern and I attended two classes in March to prepare him for today.  He was excited of course to drink the "wine".  The kids got to taste it in one of the classes but today was the real deal with bread and wine and the full meaning.

After he came back to his seat I asked him, so how do you feel? Do you feel like your sins have been forgiven?  He shrugged his shoulders and said "My heart feels warm."

I smiled. Good enough for me (even if it was just the wine). :-)

On a side note, Vern also got to find Easter eggs this morning. Yes the kids are older and this is probably the last year we do it (I haven't decided for sure.) but it is still fun to watch them running around searching for eggs and opening them to count their money.

It makes this ole mom smile.
