AMAZING

I know...I know I have been absent. Sorry.

I do have to write about Vern and his second quarter grades. They were as the post was titled - AMAZING.

He had such a hard time first quarter but really tried and it paid off.

I told him if he could pull off all A's I would rush out and get him a Google Play card. He tried so hard near the end.

This quarter was as follows:
EXP Tech - A
Choir - A
PE - A
English - A
American History - A
Science - A
Pre-Algebra - B (90%)

I would say that is about as close to all A's is one can get. I am so proud of him. His grades were better than BOTH his brother and sisters. It sure helped his self esteem.

Congratulate him when you see or talk to him or leave a message here for me to show him.

Report Card Time

That time of year again...Report cards.
I can't imagine being a kid and having to bring that home to mom and dad.

"Will they be mad at me?"
"Will they be proud of me?"
"I wonder how I did?"
"I guess I could peek..."
So I get some texts from Vern.
- Mom I got my report card.
- Are you there?
- Are you proud of me?

I reply back - Of course I am proud of you. Why wouldn't I be?

THEN I go back and see a text I missed.

- Mom, I got 4 A's and 2 B's.
OH
MY
GAWDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
I couldn't wait to get home and hug and praise and squeeze him.  I thought I might injure myself with all the jumping up and down.

I got home and couldn't wait to see his report card.  There were NO needs improvements anywhere on the card.  There were even some Excellent! It was his best report card ever.

I am SO VERY proud of my Vern. He has come a long way!

Signed,
Over the top Proud Mom.

Crossover

In my last post I told you this time of year is big Boy Scout season. Well my blog continues in that vein today.  Vern crossed over from being a Cub Scout to a Boy Scout. This is a big event with a dinner served and awards followed by an official ceremony where the boys cross a bridge and become Boy Scouts.  I have included some photos from the big night.

Poor Vern doesn't look to good. The night before he went to an all nighter with the Boy Scouts. This is where they stay up and play games and do not sleep all night. Vern got home and went to bed but woke up a few hours later sick. He didn't do well partying all night. So in the pictures you can see he looks a little out of it and peeked.  I wouldn't have even sent him but it is such a big deal we went and he made it through like a trooper. We tucked him into bed as soon as we got home. He still wasn't well enough to go to school the next day so he just stayed home and rested.

Pathetic fake smile. Poor guy.
Receiving his awards and pins.
Not feeling well at all.
Order of the arrow ceremony.  He loves his arrow and has it hanging on his bedroom wall.
If he wasn't sick I could see thoughts of poking his neighbor...
Crossing over to become a Boy Scout. PROUD OF YOU VERN!!!!!!!

With all his gear. Our newest Scout!

As close as we get to the real Vern all night!

WHO is this kid?

Friday, I fell out of my chair and hurt myself.

I could NOT believe what I read in an email from Vern's teacher.

I had written her a note asking if she would please get him his homework for Monday as he was going to miss school.  (He was going to his reward professional football game for doing well in school.)

Not only did she give him his homework but Vern decided to miss his recess and get ALL his homework done while he was still in school!!!

Now take one minute and digest what I just typed. HE - GAVE -UP - HIS - RECESS to do homework.  Recess is his F-A-V-O-R-I-T-E subject in school. He has told me this.  Sometimes I see little glimmers of hope for this boy.

Part II of the Blog.

He had a blast at the game. Here are a couple pictures his dad sent.

The ViQueens even won but it took overtime. Good game for Vern to see!  (Ya, I am not a ViQueen fan.)
